"I am really looking forward to going back to Belle Isle. I have driven on the course they are going to use for the race. It is a difficult course and it is going to be very important to stay out of trouble. Since this is an event that Roger Penske has been involved with, you know it is going to be a good event because of his attention to detail."

Dario Franchitti Facts
· This is the inaugural event at The Raceway at Belle Isle for the IndyCar Series and the first open wheel race since 2001.
· Franchitti has four top-five finishes in five starts at Belle Isle including a win in 1999.
· Franchitti led 62 laps on his way to his 12th top-five finish of the season at Infineon Raceway where he also captured his third pole of the season.
· He is one of two IndyCar Series drivers to finish 14 of 15 races in the top 10 this season and has led more laps than any other driver.
· Franchitti recorded back-to-back wins at Iowa Speedway and Richmond International Raceway.
· On May 27, 2007, Franchitti won the 91st running of the Indianapolis 500®: his first Indy 500 victory.
· Franchitti led 34 laps of the 91st Running of the Indianapolis 500 and became only the second Scotsman to win in the history of the event.
· Franchitti is the winningest British driver in American open-wheel racing history.
· Along with teammates Bryan Herta and Tony Kanaan, Franchitti drove to a win at the 12 Hours of Sebring on March 17. The trio collected the LMP2 class victory in AGR's first ALMS start.
· Franchitti has recorded six career IndyCar Series pole positions half of which have come in the 2007 season.
· Five of his seven IndyCar Series victories have come on tracks of 1.33 miles or smaller, including the 1-mile ovals at Milwaukee (2004) and Pikes Peak (2004), the 1.33-mile oval at Nashville Superspeedway (2005), the 0.875-mile track at Iowa Speedway and the 0.75-mile oval at Richmond.
· Franchitti has 17 major open-wheel racing victories and 16 career pole positions.
