NBS Results from Memphis 1. David Reutimann, No. 99 Toyota 18. Bryan Clauson, No. 41 Memorex Dodge 32. Dario Franchitti, No. 42 Target Dodge
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (October 27, 2007)-After a near record 25 cautions slowed the 250-lap NASCAR Busch Series race down to a 62.487 mph average speed at Memphis Motorsports Park Saturday afternoon, Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates' Dario Franchitti wound up 32nd in his NBS debut on the .75-mile oval.
Franchitti qualified an impressive third on the grid in the third race of his stock car development schedule, and ran in the top 15 for over 75% of the race. He moved his way up to second position and stayed in the top 10 over half the race distance until his brake pedal went to the floor on lap 192 and had unavoidable contact with the rear of the No.77 car. The No.42 Target Dodge sustained right-front damage and the crew spent the final pit stops keeping the car on the track for Franchitti, who finished the race running in 32nd position.
The team will again evaluate Franchitti's progress in the coming days and release plans for future races next week. Next up for Franchitti is the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Open Test at Atlanta Motor Speedway next Monday and Tuesday in the Car of Tomorrow.
CGRFS Driver Quoteboard: DARIO FRANCHITTI: “I was looking good there for a while running second and I thought 'this is pretty good'. But regardless of the bad result we still learned a heck of a lot. That's what the 2007 program I'm doing is about; it's about learning. If this happens a lot (next year) in a way I won't be as relaxed about it."
