DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February 9, 2008) - Dario Franchitti qualified ninth and finished 10th in his second career ARCA start Saturday night at Daytona International Speedway in the No.40 Ingersoll-Rand Dodge Charger. The result marked a career best stock car finish for the rookie as he bettered a 17th place result at Texas Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Nationwide Series last season.
The 80-lap ARCA event got off to a slow start with cautions littering the first 30 laps until a red flag halted the action on Lap 32 for a multi-car accident. When racing resumed Franchitti was 23rd and making up ground after a Lap 24 pit stop exit caused damage to the right front fender.
Another multi-car incident took place on Lap 55 while the No.40 machine ran 10th, and Franchitti managed to hang on to that position until the checkered flag.
Next up on Franchitti's Speed Weeks schedule is the NASCAR Nationwide Series Camping World 300 (LIVE, 12:00 PM ET) Saturday, February 16th on ESPN2, where he will be behind the wheel of the No.40 Fastenal Dodge Charger.
