SET-UP ISSUE FORCES 12TH PLACE FINISH FOR FRANCHITTI IN KANSAS

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (July 2, 2006) - Dario Franchitti piloted the #27 Klein Tools/Canadian Club car to a 12th place finish at the Kansas Lottery Indy 300.  He remains eighth in the IndyCar Series championship with six races remaining and trails the seventh-place driver by only one point.

From the opening lap of the race, Franchitti found himself battling an ill-handling car.  Prior to his first pit stop, the Klein Tools/Canadian Club crew discovered an error made in the car's pre-race setup which proved to be the source of the major handling issues.

During three of his four pit stops, the team made changes to the front wing and tire pressure trying to make the car more drivable.  Franchitti also tried to improve the situation by making as many adjustments as possible inside the cockpit.
Sam Hornish Jr. won for the third time in 2006 and took over the lead in the championship.  He was followed across the line by Dan Wheldon, Vitor Meira, Scott Dixon and Tony Kanaan.

The 2006 schedule resumes with the Firestone Indy 200 on Saturday, July 15, from Nashville Superspeedway where Franchitti will be the race's defending champion.  ESPN will provide live broadcast coverage of the 200-lap event beginning at 9 p.m. (EDT).  The race can also be heard live by XM Satellite Radio subscribers on XM channel 145, the official home of the IndyCar Series.

Dario Franchitti, #27 Klein Tools/Canadian Club Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"This wasn't the result we were expecting today.  Unfortunately we had a problem with the initial setup of the car and that really hurt us.  We tried to make some adjustments to the Klein Tools/Canadian Club car during the race to make the car better and it did a little bit.  The guys have done a great job all year and we are looking forward to Nashville and defending our title there."

John Anderson, Team Manager, #27 Klein Tools/Canadian Club Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"I feel for Dario today.  We made a mistake that plagued us for the entire race.  Dario did an amazing job just hanging on today. He used all of the in-car instruments he could and we made several adjustments during his pit stops trying to make the Klein Tools/Canadian Club car better.  He did a great job today."
