·         In qualifying today, Franchitti had to make two big saves to avoid the wall, which forced him to lift and slow his lap times. Dixon ran a conservative line knowing he was facing a 10-spot grid penalty for an unapproved engine change.
·         Franchitti will make his eighth Indy car start at Fontana this weekend.  In his previous seven starts he has earned one win (2005), one pole (2005), four top-10s and led 84 laps.
·         In five career starts at Fontana, Dixon has one top three and four top-10 finishes.  His best start is second in 2004, while his best finish is also second, in 2003.  He has completed 99.3 percent of the laps run at Fontana in his five starts.
TCGR Quoteboard
Dario Franchitti:  “We have to focus a little bit on everything this off season.  The team, myself and Honda all need to improve and get a bit more consistent.  We’ll have a busy winter here for everyone on the Target team trying  to improve for next season.  But any year you can win Indy and finish one-two is a good year.  Today in qualifying the car just had a lot of oversteer in turns one and two and I thought I was in the fence.  The same thing happened this morning and we thought we fixed it.   It snapped way out of line and I managed to catch it but I had to lift and that was that.”
