Baltimore, Md. (September 1, 2013) – Target Chip Ganassi Racing (TCGR) driver Dario Franchitti finished 21st in the Grand Prix of Baltimore.
Franchitti qualified the No. 10 Cessna Honda 15th, before an engine change required him to start from the back of the field in the 24th starting spot.  Franchitti began the race strong, passing cars before a braking issue required an unscheduled pit stop on lap 8.  During the first caution on lap 13, Franchitti again pitted for front-brake issues, dropping him to 22nd (seven laps down).  The No. 10 team ended their day on lap 31 after pulling into the pit  lane island as a result of the ongoing braking issues, resulting in a 21st place finish.
With the results from at Baltimore, Dixon remains second in the IZOD IndyCar Series point standings with 452 markers, -49 points behind leader Helio Castroneves.  Franchitti is seventh with 388 markers, -113 points back.
Honda is now tied with Chevrolet in the manufacturer point standings (120 points).
Up next, Target Chip Ganassi Racing will compete in Rounds 17 and 18 of the IZOD IndyCar Series with The Shell and Pennzoil Grand Prix of Houston in Houston, Texas, on Saturday, October 5 and Sunday, October 6 (3:00pm ET on NBC Sports Network).
-       - Franchitti retired early in the event due to a brake problem.

TCGR Quoteboard
Dario Franchitti:  “We had an engine change on race morning.  But, you have to say thanks to Honda because they keep pushing and they keep pushing hard to try and find those performance advantages, but it just went wrong this morning.  This afternoon, after about six laps, the brake pedal went to the floor both in Turn 1 and Turn 12.  Then we came in and bled the brakes.  It was okay until we got them hot again and then it did exactly the same thing.  So, there’s obviously a problem because I generally don’t use the brakes that often.”
